The Week I Used $10,000 to Buy My Dreams

7 Mar

Daily Prompt: Seven Days

You wake up tomorrow morning to find all your plans have been cancelled for the next seven days and $10,000 on your dresser. Tell us about your week.

I’m going to start off this post by saying I could travel the world and make tons of friends like I’m sure a lot of the other bloggers out there wrote about, but there are quite a few problems with that. Enough that I have to make list.

Reasons I Kind of Hate Traveling:

  1. My Lack of Lingual Knowledge- I can barely speak English as it is. It’s not that I’m an immigrant or anything- check out how I sign off every post, for Pete’s sake. I mumble everything I say, so much that the thing I say mumble most is “never mind”. How am I supposed to understand the conjugations for Spanish?
  2. My Irrational Fear of Dirty Bathrooms- I can’t stand dirty bathrooms. The summers I spent in a place that shall not be named freaked the crap (no pun intended) out of me. The ‘toilets’ were almost always on the ground, and you had to bring your own toilet paper. And don’t even get me started on the smell.
  3. My Immune System- Every single time I go on vacation, I get sick. Maybe it’s a cold, or maybe it’s the flu, but it sucks. I have to bring tissues everywhere, and ugh..
  4. Bad Memories- As much as I love my family, vacations cause more stress than they should. We’re always late everywhere, and my parents can be pretty stubborn. I feel out of place everywhere we go, with our blinding white tennis shoes and fanny packs.

So what will I do in this week of freedom? Amazon, iTunes, and Whole Foods, of course. Ever since my parents realized my iTunes account was connected to their credit cards, I’ve been on an iTunes hiatus. I’ve resolved to bringing my computer and portable speakers into the bathroom when I take a shower. Once Lent ends, I’ll buy myself all these songs (I’ve given up the iTunes store, fried food, and candy):

  1. Believe Me I’m Lying by Forever The Sickest Kids
  2. Love is Easy by McFly
  3. Freaking Me Out by Simple Plan ft. Alex Gaskarth
  4. True Colors by All Time Low (the only song of theirs’ I don’t have, only because it came out after Lent started)
  5. Toes by LIGHTS
  6. No Scrubs by TLC
  7. Shout by Tears For Fears
  8. The album Everything’s Fine by the Summer Set
  9. Life of the Party by Boys Like Girls
  10. Killer by the Ready Set
  11. Into Your Arms by The Maine
  12. Broken by Seether and Amy Lee
  13. Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade
(Yes, I actually listen to music when I shower) Since I’m an alternative music freak, I might as well buy myself some tickets for the upcoming Summer Set concert on March 22. Two tickets for me and my best friend means a loss of about $40. And then I’ll walk outside my neighborhood and look for hobos, who I love. The war veterans or homeless people asking for money. And I will give them what I think they need, but making sure they’ll use it for good.
Then I’ll go to Whole Foods, a place my mother hates because I always spend too much money there, and buy everything to make delicious vegan cookies. And coconut ice cream and veggie patties, because I love both of those. And I’ll give some cookies to my new neighbors, who I still haven’t met, despite the month we had to get to know each other. You know what’s funny? We actually moved into our houses on the same day.
For my mom, I’ll get her a yoga membership to help ease her out of physical therapy (she hurt her arm).
For my dad, I’ll get him a new camera. Maybe a Nikon or a Canon, but I have no idea because I don’t actually know much about buying cameras. And I’ll try to spend more time with him, learning about photography and Photoshop.
For my sister, I’ll rent her a limo for prom, which is coming up soon. She already has a gorgeous teal dress and amazing shoes, so I really don’t have anything else I can supply her with.
And for myself, I’ll sign myself up for kickboxing classes, a dream I’ve had since I was 12. And I’ll order all these YA novels off Amazon, which I’m sure to finish in a month or so. Which reminds me that I should buy all the All Time Low memorabilia I couldn’t afford when I was $10,000 poorer, and to also get all 6 seasons of Psych on DVD, because it is my favorite show after all.
Enough on me- I’m already selfish enough as it is. What about you? What would you spend $10,000 on? Write in the comments below, lovelies…

Goodbye my lovelies, and thanks for reading. XOXOXO- Queen of Mumblers
